Consumo de sustancias psicoactivas pre y postraumatismo craneoencefálico: Impacto neurocognitivo, emocional y en la calidad de vida

Resumen

El traumatismo craneoencefálico (TCE) representa una problemática crítica de salud pública cuyas secuelas pueden verse exacerbadas por el consumo de sustancias psicoactivas (SPA). El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar el impacto del consumo de alcohol y drogas, pre y postraumatismo, sobre el rendimiento neurocognitivo, la esfera emocional y la calidad de vida en pacientes con TCE. En la metodología se aplicó un estudio cuantitativo, observacional y transversal con una muestra de N = 89 pacientes del Departamento de Neurocirugía del Hospital Militar Central en Bogotá, Colombia. Se aplicó una batería de evaluación neuropsicológica e instrumentos estandarizados para medir el consumo de SPA, la afectación emocional y la percepción de la calidad de vida. Los resultados revelaron correlaciones significativas entre los patrones de consumo de SPA y la presencia de déficits neuropsicológicos selectivos, principalmente en memoria, funciones ejecutivas y atención sustained y alternante. El consumo pre y post-lesión actuó como un factor agravante que profundiza las vulnerabilidades cognitivas preexistentes y genera nuevas disfunciones. Asimismo, el nivel educativo, el estado civil y el apoyo social percibido emergieron como factores protectores determinantes en la adaptación socioemocional y la recuperación post-TCE. Se determina que la interacción entre el consumo de SPA y el TCE impacta de manera compleja y diferencial la evolución clínica del paciente según el momento de exposición (pre o post-lesión). Se concluye la imperiosa necesidad de diseñar e implementar programas de rehabilitación neuropsicológica e intervención integral que combinen el abordaje del consumo de sustancias con el fortalecimiento de las redes de apoyo social

    Psicólogo Colombo Canadiense, registrado en Canadá y en Colombia, con más de 15 años de experiencia en psicoterapia, consejería individual y grupal, conferencista, tallerista y docente-investigador.

    Especialista en adicciones, Diplomado en Suicidologia, Diplomado en Docencia Universitaria, Posgrado en Trabajo Social (graduado con honores), Doctor en Psicología mención honorifica y distinción académica “Magna Cum Laude”.

    Pertenece al Comité científico internacional del observatorio del comportamiento de automedicación de la Universidad del Rosario como consultor en adicciones. Hace parte de grupos y semilleros de investigación en Universidades como la del Rosario, en Bogotá-Colombia; miembro del semillero de investigación Inter/Nos de la Escuela de posgrados de la Universidad Católica Luis Amigó en Medellín-Colombia.

    Ha participado como ponente en congresos nacionales e internacionales con diferentes temas como el manejo de las emociones, la educación en higiene socioemocional, adicciones, entre otros.
